SPF, which is an acronym for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is used to validate whether an email message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain name will stop the forging of emails made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain name creates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send email messages from mail boxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When an e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it goes through verifies if it originates from an accredited server. When it does, it is sent to the destination address, however when it does not originate from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody can mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you're sending spam. This approach is also termed email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for each domain hosted in a cloud web hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a couple of clicks. The function can be found in the Emails section of our leading-edge Hepsia Control Panel and what is needed to use it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down menu and then enter the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers which will be permitted to send messages from your emails. As an added option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers manage the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This solution offers you the highest standard of protection, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are managed in a different place. Either way, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute comes with all Linux semi-dedicated packages, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud web hosting platform, you'll be able to use this service without difficulty for all your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a quite intuitive interface, so you will not need to be proficient in the use of computers in order to protected your e-mails. You will simply need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send e-mails from your addresses and right after that the new record will be active for the domain name that you've chosen. As an additional option, we will also allow you to limit your outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes further by permitting emails to be sent only if the domain name involved contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain need to be managed on our end and not by a different company. By doing this you'll enjoy even better control and there won't be any chances for anyone to forge your e-mail addresses for harmful objectives.
